Spending a Small Fortune, 7th July

Awake at 4:30 and up at 5:00. Getting to sleep no trouble but waking early. Not a problem though, as I feel refreshed and it just means more hours to the day.

We headed for Sally’s favourite store, Leroy Merlin. Spent a fortune and half-the day there. Got back around noon, €300-€400 the poorer, but with water-resistant plasterboard for the new shower, woodworm treatment for the cellar, wood hardener for the balcony, Bitumen and roofing felt for the garage roof (there’s €250 right there), and numerous other odds and sods.

Back home Sally was giving the bedroom wall another coat and prepping and painting a rather sorry looking ceiling light from the loo (going to look so much better when she has done) whilst I rubbed down the balcony and applied a couple of coats of the wood hardener. That was a big job, taking me through whole afternoon and into early evening.

Ceiling Light - after Sally's prep, but before painting

After dinner went for a stroll but I was too shot and, besides, I had the last four days’ blog to write up 😊.
