Men and Their Balls (Sally) - July 3rd

After my usual shower etc. I didn’t feel like going to the boulangerie, so I had coffee, juice and yogurt for breakfast. Fourth full day and only ONE croissant, I must be slacking.

Feel out of sorts.

Thinking of going somewhere for the day - Brive perhaps.

That idea went by the wayside and instead, guess what...

Undercoated some more of the bathroom tiles until I ran out of paint. Had to shut the shutters because it is too warm in there to work.

Coffee break. With biscuits. Naughty me, no wonder my trousers are getting tight.

I decided yesterday that today was going to be a day of rest. Had a shower and washed my hair, put on nice top and trousers. I don’t think Uzerche wants my legs on display. Ready to take a wander into the village.

The temperature above the chemist said 29.5 sensible people stay indoors or find a restaurant/cafe. I wanted to try a new place, but they seemed to close at lunch time. Weird. The other new place seemed to only sell cakes and ice cream, although it did mention a green salad. Since I intended to have salad in the evening, I gave it a miss. What I really, really wanted was a nice Brie butty, accompanied by a glass of chilled wine. So, I carried on walking towards the old paper mill to see what the two cafes had to offer. The pizza place was closed and I didn’t want to sit outside in the sun.

Onwards and upwards. By now I felt very warm. I passed Hotel Ambroise - didn’t want a large lunch. I notice Hotel Jean Teyssier had a nice lunchtime menu, prix fix, nice to go when Andrew arrives.

I headed home. Why is it that when I have been here a few days the corner of our road seems steep? It is as though I hit the marathon runners wall!

Home at last, hot and bothered. Changed quickly into shorts. For lunch I had some cheese. The bread I bought yesterday was past it’s best. Eureka! I put some balsamic vinegar and olive oil on a plate and dipped the bread in it.

After lunch I zonked out, heat exhaustion me thinks.

After coffee, I stripped the paint off some old doorknobs.

Feel bad because I haven’t done much today.

A very nice chicken salad for dinner.

Aah, the details are boring, but what else have I to say?

Went for a walk, I wanted to put some rubbish in a bin because our bin collection seems a bit hit and miss. I was out for nearly an hour. It was nice to see some guys playing tennis and some others kayaking on the Vezere throwing tennis balls at each other. Men and their balls!

When I neared home the marathon corner hit me, again. My lovely neighbours, Natalie and Pierette we’re outside their house and I managed to let them know that EDF had changed our meter. Pierette informed me they are changing all of Rue de Pont Turgot’s meters and it is obligatory. I didn’t understand everything (they speak absolutely no English, why should they?) but I feel as though progress is being made.

Home and I treated myself to a bag of crisps, I NEED THE SALT, and a glass of wine - grapes, therefore fruit and good for you. My excuse and I am sticking to it.

Shortly I will Skype Andy to say goodnight.

Ooh, forgot to mention the temperature now says 32.5 I swear it seemed cooler this evening. Let’s hope I feel it is cooler in bed.
