Conformarama - Another Disappointment - Monday June 11, 2018
We set the alarm for 08:00 – enough of these lie-ins!
We’d decided that we would work in the morning and then go
out in the afternoon. The morning saw Sally rubbing down a door frame and the skirting
boards in the kitchen whilst I painted the ‘black’ detailing (metal fixings) on
the two shutters I had been painting and then I salvaged a new multi socket
extension cable that had ceased to work (it is now a single socket extension
that does work). Finally I fitted three more padlocks to the garage doors.
We had a late-ish lunch and were then going to head to Brive
to shop at Conformarama, a furniture shop Sally had seen online, and to pop into
Carrefour and see what other interesting shops we could see. Checking online,
however, showed the Brive Conformarama was closed for refurbishment. So,
instead, we headed an extra 20 kilometres north to Limoges to visit the same
stores.
Conformarama was disappointing, not inexpensive but rather
cheap looking. IKEA is far more our cup of thé – and we’re planning a visit to the
Bordeaux IKEA on Wednesday (which the weatherman says will be the best day of
our fortnight here).
Quite a haul from Carrefour including a duvet and cover for
the new bed (we’d been using our old double-bed duvet), a coffee-machine,
electric whisk, small mugs, covers for the electric hob’s hot-plates, door-mat,
yet more bolts (you’ll think I am paranoid), fire-resistant paint (I’ll tell
you what that is for in another post), and much more.
Back home it was time to scan and translate four letters
we’d had from the utility companies. These had arrived after our initial visit
to the house, so were rather ‘old’. The electric company wanted a meter reading
and the water company wanted a direct-debit authorisation signing – nothing to
worry about then.
Its now 8:30pm and I’ve just
finished typing up yesterday’s and today’s blog – time for a biere and some
nuts, methinks.
