Kitchen, Lounge , Garage and Walk - 1 - 4 September

  The rest of the week saw us replacing the light in the Kitchen with a set of spots, for better illumination. Sally continued work on the lounge cupboard, finishing the painting and cutting the wood for the new shelving to size and undercoating them. She then started work painting the walls in the lounge and dining room. We also  worked together to start to prep one of the garage doors for painting. The doors and frames look pretty tatty and I've been champing at the bit for the last couple of years to get to grips with smartening them up.The house is on an incline and so I needed Sally to hold the ladders as I worked on the higher sections, removing any rotten wood and then filling. That evening we followed the old railway embankment along the river in the direction of Espartinac. I ling walk for us, around 2.5 km I believe. Friday saw me start 8 days of holiday! We're Back! - 28 - 30 July

  Rather unexpectedly, we’re back in France. When I say unexpectedly, we had planned to come out a week or two ago, but the Foreign & Commonwealth Office changed their advice to ‘Essential Travel Only’, which means we’d have no travel insurance. They did this 2 days before we’d hoped to travel ☹ . Then last Wednesday I had an email from an insurance company offering an ‘FCO extension’ to the cover they offered. Long story short, this meant we a policy from them would be valid except for the specific reason for the FCO advice – in this case Covid-19. So, we’d have general medical cover which was enough for us to take the C-19 gamble. And the extension only cost £3.15 (I would probably have paid even if they had doubled the £70 standard premium.) So Wednesday afternoon we purchased the cover and noon on Thursday saw us travelling to Natasha’s for an overnight stay before a midnight departure that saw us arrive in Uzerche 12-hours later.
