Beer, Donkeys and Blood, 10th July
‘Working from home again’ from 07:00 to around 16:00. Last
day before a week’s holiday, so lots of things I wanted to get tidied up before
I finished, and wanted to be sure my team knew what to be doing and how to get
support if they need it – we have a BIG audit happening in 5 weeks’ time; a
year’s effort coming to a climax – and important certification at stake for the
company.
After ‘work’ I took it relatively quietly. A second, and final coat on the ceiling light in the loo. Then out for a nice stroll and down to the papermill where, every Friday, local food sellers have stores and there is live music.
We were either too early or too late for the music, but enjoyed a beer and some frites and then walked up the hill to the old town, annoying a group of donkey’s – who promptly headed downhill. There seem more of them than last year – and I saw on Facebook that they are used for wagon rides around the town for tourists.
Back home I decided to dismantle the old shower ready for starting work, tomorrow, putting up a new quadrant shower with nice sliding doors – rather than a shower curtain that insists on sticking to you; not helped by the fact it is a small 700 cm x 700 cm shower (as is the new one). Removed a load of old tiles from behind the shower too; slicing my forefinger quite deeply (and dramatically, given the blood flow) on the tiles as I scooped them up to throw away.
