Reunited (Sally) - July 6th
Big day, huge ... Andy arrives!
Woke up early with the intention of going for bread and a
croissant. Lovely and sunny. You could see the sun shining on the buildings
opposite. Before I had chance to leave, it went dark, I heard a clap of thunder
and saw some lightening. Then the heavens opened and I thought... no way! I
don’t have a decent raincoat. (I do but it is for winter).
Juice, coffee and yogurt whilst watching the storm.
When it passed over I went to the boulangerie. I am weak, I bought a croissant, just the one, still weak though. Walking back home I
noticed a small market selling fresh produce and decided to go out and buy some
fruit and veg. I would have gone straight away but needed a bag.
Bag fetched ... fresh fruit/veg and a cooked chicken
purchased. Bit expensive by English standards. Can’t wait to try the chicken.
Home and straight out to get some milk, juice for Andy,
he doesn’t like the cheap stuff, more cheese and yogurts. Cycling up the road,
easy peasy on an e-bike until you come to parked cars on both sides of the
road. An old guy was trying to park where I was waiting to go forward. When I
couldn’t do a hill start I got off and pushed it to the top. Downhill and flat
road the rest of the way until you get to the supermarket. On leaving the
supermarket a car was coming up the entrance to the petrol station. Obviously they
didn’t want to go the long way round.
Each time I hear a car pull up I hope it is Andy. We have
only been apart for a week, but I am really looking forward to seeing him.
Here at last, hooray. Whilst Andy started unpacking the
excellently packed car, I prepared a lunch of... guess what? Yep, nice bread
and Brie de Melun. A very nice ripe Brie, I thought Andy was going to eat the
whole lot.
The curtain for the downstairs window looks good and Andy
is impressed with the artwork I have done for Serena’s room. I will do a more
permanent replacement once back in England.
Andy fixed the pull to open the shutters, which I
promptly broke. Luckily Andy fixed it, again!
It is amazing how some net curtaining and cheap
lampshades transform a place. These will be o.k until we do a proper
redecoration.
Andy started erecting the stereo stand whilst I prepared
dinner. The chicken? O.k, prefer my roast chicken, though I say it myself. The
rotisserie chicken was a little too greasy for my liking.
The strawberries, although nice, are nowhere near as good as English strawberries. Sorry France, you may do some foodstuff better than Angleterre, but when it comes to strawberries... we whoop you, easily.
