Bastille Day and a Busty Wench! (Sally) - July 14th
Serena had a bit of a rough night. The day didn’t start
too well. No strawberry tart from the bakery.
Andy went for a cycle ride to the supermarket. We were
going to visit another village but decided it was too late. Serena needed a
nap.
After lunch, Andy & I walked into the village centre
to see what festivities were taking place. Natasha, Tom and Serena were meeting
us later.
We stopped at our local bar for a coffee and Andy had a
beer. Slightly strange in that it seemed quite sweet, the beer that is, not the
bar. He said it wasn’t unpleasant though.
In the Place de la Liberation, they had some amusing fairground attractions, like a pin ball machine and puppets that were made from odds & ends (bits & bobs). Two ladies wearing elaborate costumes were pushing a large swan shaped cart and blowing large amounts of bubbles. The local children liked this. A man with a donkey and cart was playing tunes on a wind-up machine. Urney gurney? Another man was playing a piano high up in the air, whilst a small merry go round was below him. This seemed to be made from bits and bobs too.

Just around the corner was another merry go round that may have been powered by a see saw. A very gentle ride. The children on it didn’t seem too impressed though.
We were joined by the Bates, but unfortunately Serena had
managed to get sun cream in her eyes and was suffering badly.
The chocolate ice cream Serena had seemed to go everywhere.
Although I also managed to get a blob of my chocolate ice cream on a white top!
We had a nice barbecue after Serena went to bed. It did
take her a long time to settle.
Shame their last full day didn’t turn out as well as it
could have. There is always next year.
