A Day-Out to Treignac Beach - Then a Bath in the Kitchen Sink (Sally) - July 12th

I can’t believe I have been here two weeks. Tempus fugit. (This is about my entire Latin vocabulary).

Slept quite well. A certain young lady woke her parents at five (four in the U.K).

Andy went to fetch croissants. Serena had a weetabix and blueberries, yogurt and then croissant. Must have hollow legs.

After we had all eaten we jumped in the car and drove to the lake and man made beach at Treignac. It was great to see Serena paddling. She stripped off at one point. If you can’t get naked at two years old, when can you? Andy threatened to wrap a towel around him and wear his budgie smugglers. Please NO!!!!

After a picnic on the ‘beach’, off to Treignac to get ice cream and chocolate from the chocolatery. Before doing this, we did a slight detour to show Natasha and Tom a house we had previously viewed. Although it was nice and the view good - the vista is no match for ours in Uzerche. Oh no, the chocolate shop was closed, so we went to a local cafe for ice cream- very nice. We didn’t want to wait the couple of hours for the chocolatery to open, so headed home instead.

Serena fell asleep in the car but awoke when we got home. Tom and Natasha hoped she would snooze a little bit longer.

Serena is full of energy and we had fun playing with Play-Doh. We also discovered a way to amuse her. After she had dropped a pop bottle on her toe - ouch, then caught her leg on her bed - out came the magic pad. We sat her on the kitchen table and I fetched a small lint pad that I had bought after my eye op. An eye pad, but no technical know-how needed. It came out of its wrapper, ran it under the cold tap and Serena held it on her leg. Job done. Miracle cure. I have a box full of eye pads at home in the U.K. I now have another use for them.

Tom looked after Serena whilst Andy, Natasha and I popped to Intermarche to see if there was something Serena might like for dinner.

On the way back we looked at the menus for a couple of local restaurants.

Serena enjoyed her gnocchi with pesto.

Another novelty for Serena was giving her a bath in the kitchen sink.

Andy did an excellent job of storytelling and getting Serena to bed. Tom and Natasha went out for a meal.
